The first week of 2017 formal cross country workouts is now for the Bandera Lady Bulldog Cross Country Team. A total of 23 girls participated in at least one or more workouts between Monday, July 31st and Friday, August 4th. All 23 girls displayed an extremely good attitude and excellent work habits, as they primarily went through a series of baseline conditioning and strength tests. In addition, emphasis was placed on improving running form.

Returning letter winners from the 2016 UI.L. Class 4-A Girls State Champion Cross Country Team who participated in workouts were senior Sandy Clarkin, sophomore Penelope Garcia, junior Salma Gutierrez, senior Alia Henderson, senior Abbey MacMillan, junior Ashlyn Persyn, and sophomore Caitlyn Thrasher. Joining them from the 2016 Lady Bulldog junior varsity cross country season team were sophomore Carson Brzezinski, junior Cody Kylie, sophomore Kathya Gonzalez, sophomore Ofelia Macias, junior Megan Mangold, sophomore Corrine McMullen, senior Alexandra Soupley, and Tatianna Trevino. Three 2017 Lady Bulldog track and field runners who have not previously participated in cross country at Bandera High School also were among those present during the first week of organized workouts. The three are junior Mary Alvey, junior Heather Dickeson, and sophomore Jordan Edwards. Presently, six freshmen have attended the formal cross country workouts. They are Laura Castillo, Lauren Davila, Natalie Morgan, Tamerra Parrish, Alyssa Sheeds, and Kendra Schwarz.

The Bandera High School Lady Bulldogs would like to have a least 30 girls participating in cross country during the 2017 season, so any Bandera High School student-athlete who is interested in improving her overall athletic ability is encouraged to begin attending workouts at the Bandera High School Stadium each morning. The student-athlete is to arrive no later than 6:00 a.m., dressed ready to workout. Included in the workouts will be progressive conditioning and strength training, as well as agility, balance, coordination, endurance, flexibility, quickness, and speed exercises. If the student-athlete has not previously turned in a current completed physical/medical history form, they are reminded to bring that completed form with them to the first workout. Really, cross country is not about winning championships at any level, rather it is about developing the commitment, dedication, self-discipline, and work ethic that are necessary to be successful in any and all sports, as well as in life. Everybody who is willing to work is welcome, regardless of their primary sport. Look forward to seeing you at 6:00 a.m. Student-athletes are, also, reminded that attendance at all cross country workouts is most important, if the student-athlete is to maximize her capabilities, so do not miss a workout and do not be late to a workout. Should problems arise that may cause a student-athlete to have to be late or to have to miss a workout, then the cross country student-athlete must let Coach Golemon know by calling or texting (830) 688-9627. Until further notice, all cross country activities will begin each day at the Bandera High School Bulldog Stadium and then move to other areas during the course of the workout. Workouts normally will end around 8:00 a.m. steam punk gothic wears for prom party

Again, to continue a legacy of cross country success, a fairly large number of highly motivated Lady Bulldogs, who are willing to work hard, need to report to Bandera High School Bulldog Stadium each day at 6:00 a.m. Do you have "The Will to Win?" If so, then prove it to yourself and others by being willing to pay the price to improve yourself athletically! Bandera has won 9 straight district cross country titles, and been to eleven straight U.I.L. Region IV Cross Country Championships, finishing 1st or 2nd each of the last four years, plus they have been to the U.I.L. State Cross Country Championships 7 straight years and been fortunate enough to win the state championship in 2014, 2015, and 2016. "Will It to Happen, and It Will Happen!"
